Village Church began as the dream of a few individuals who wanted to see a new community of faith in the city of Buffalo. Over the course of a few years, this dream began to gather momentum and on February 14, 2011, a few men and women gathering in an Elmwood Village living room became the first official meeting of Village Church. In collaboration with The Orchard Group (a church planting organization from NYC) and several other church supporters Village Church was officially launched on October 9, 2011.
Village Church is not a building or an event, it is a collection of people from the city of Buffalo on mission to LOVE, LIVE, and SERVE.
Village Church began as a “portable church” leasing space in a gymnasium and setting up and tearing down for services each week. As the church continued to grow we relocated to a new semi-permanent location and signed a longer-term lease with First Presbyterian Church, where we meet currently.
In addition to the weekly gatherings, there are several small groups called Local Villages that meet in area homes, church spaces, and coffee shops throughout the week. These Local Villages are a big part of what makes Village Church the community that it is.
Much of the story of Village Church is still being written now. Our goal is to LOVE God, to LIVE Community, and to SERVE Others. As a community of faith in the Christian tradition, we endeavor to emulate Jesus and to follow his teachings and way of life.
You are cordially invited to become a part of the story of Village Church.
